Степени сравнения и устойчивые конструкции сравнения

Сравнение на ОРТ проверяют формами прилагательных и наречий, а также устойчивыми конструкциями: the more… the better, such a… that, prefer… to.

Степени сравнения

• короткие слова: cold → colder → the coldest; big → bigger → the biggest; easy → easier → the easiest;
• длинные: interesting → more interesting → the most interesting;
• неправильные: good / well → better → the best; bad → worse → the worst; much / many → more → the most; little → less → the least; far → farther / further → the farthest / furthest;
• late → later (позже) → the latest (самый поздний, последний по времени); latter — «последний из двух названных», это не сравнение.

После сравнительной степени — than: Tokmok is smaller than Bishkek.

Насколько больше?

• немного: slightly, a little, a bit + сравнительная степень;
• намного: much, far, a lot + сравнительная степень;
• slightly more expensive (чуть дороже) = a little cheaper с другой стороны.

Устойчивые конструкции

• The + сравн., the + сравн. — чем…, тем…: The earlier you start, the sooner you finish.
• as … as / not as … as: My bag is not as heavy as yours.
• such (a) + прилагательное + существительное + that: It was such a cold day that we stayed inside. Без существительного — so: It was so cold that…
• prefer A to B: I prefer tea to coffee; prefer doing to doing.
• like A better than B.
• would rather do A than do B: I'd rather walk than take a taxi (глагол без to).

Примеры в стиле ОРТ

Пример 1. The test was _____ than I expected. A) easy B) easier C) easiest D) more easy Решение: than — сравнительная степень; easy → easier. Ответ: B.

Пример 2. It was _____ interesting lecture that nobody left early. A) so B) such an C) such D) very Решение: прилагательное + исчисляемое существительное в ед. ч. → such an (interesting начинается с гласного). Ответ: B.

Пример 3. I prefer swimming _____ running. I'd rather swim _____ run. A) than, to B) to, than C) to, to D) than, than Решение: prefer… to…; would rather… than…. Ответ: B.

Пример 4. Which is the logical motto? A) The less you sleep, the healthier you are. B) The more you practise, the better you play. Ответ: B.

Типичные ошибки

• more easier, more better — двойное сравнение недопустимо.
• such cold weather (неисчисляемое) — без a; such a cold day — с a.
• I prefer tea than coffee — после prefer нужно to.
